Travonnie has spent her career deepening the capability and confidence of others. She’s a teacher and coach at heart who is constantly looking for opportunities to facilitate growth and success.
After graduating from Howard University with her B.B.A., Travonnie joined Teach for America in Metro Atlanta. She earned her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State and thoroughly enjoyed helping students see themselves as mathematicians. She became an instructional coach, because she quickly saw that there weren’t enough people supporting the adults tasked with educating our children. In this role, she found a great merge of her passions for teaching and leadership development. She published Transforming the Ineffective Teacher to help instructional leaders create a learning culture in their schools.
As an HR Business Partner at Educators for Excellence, a national non-profit, she broadened her coaching lens to include the development of nonprofit leaders in their organizational and management skills. Through a balanced approach of relationship building, adult learning centered curriculum design and systems thinking, she created structures, policies and tools that help leaders set their teams up for success.
After building a million-dollar portfolio as an Associate Partner at Edgility Consulting, Travonnie co-founded Empact Work, LLC. She is a fierce advocate for equitable access in talent system design and works to ensure people have excellent managers. Her team leads consulting, coaching and training projects to change the way organizations engage talent.
Travonnie has three incredible children, Tyson, Micah and Laila. They are her why. Her favorite pastime is soaking up her family. She also enjoys good music, page-turner books and trips to the beach.

Travonnie released Retain Me If You Can to support leaders to replace short term retention tactics with long-lasting engagement.
